India is conducting Mock drills at hospitals for Covid-19 Operational Preparedness

India is conducting mock drills on Tuesday to check and assess the operational preparedness to deal with any possible outbreak and spike of fresh covid-19 cases. The Mock drill will focus mainly on availability of health facilities and human resources capacity in all parts of the country.

This Mock drill  will help in filling gaps in necessary areas like the availability of Isolation beds, oxygen cylinder supported beds Intensive Care Unit (ICU) beds and Ventilator Supported beds. This will also help in checking the availability of Advanced and Basic Life Support ( ALS/BLS) ambulances , Essential Testing equipment and necessary drugs that are required .

Many states in India have adopted their own set of measures in order to keep Covid-19 new variant away.The Delhi government has already allocated Rs 104 crores for hospitals to purchase general medicines required  as a part of preparations to deal Covid-19. 

The Karnataka government has also made the wearing the masks mandatory at movie theaters , Educational institutions and also at crowded gatherings. They have also made mandated two doses of covid-19 vaccination at bars, restaurants and pubs ahead of New Year Celebrations.. The Bars, Restaurants and Pubs should operate only up to the seating capacity only.

The Tamil Nadu government has asked the private hospitals and labs to send Covid-19 positive samples for Whole genomic sequencing (WGS) to monitor existing variants and to detect new variants.The West Bengal government is also following six point plan that focuses on Genomic Surveillance, Oxygen capacity, testing and emergency responses.
