Galwan Valley

Indian Army has given emergency powers to deal with the critical situation arising out of China's attack on Indian soldiers in Galwan Valley. Almost 20 Indian Soldiers including a commanding officer were killed and several others injured at the Line of Actual Control at the Galwan Valley in Ladakh by China's People's Liberation Army. The hand-to-hand fight was savage and lasted for almost eight hours on Monday night.

Nearly after 24 hours of the violent clash between India and Chinese Soldiers at Ladakh the situation is still serious. After 1962 this is the first time the Soldiers have died in the India-China clash. The last death at Line of Actual Control  (LAC) at Arunachal Pradesh by the Chinese in 1975. In 1967 at Sikkim these two armies clashed each other in which 88 soldiers lost their lives and more than 300 Chinese soldiers were killed. These two incidents happened prior to two countries signing agreements for maintaining peace and tranquility in the year 1993.

When 19 soldiers lost their lives in 2016, The Central Government had launched surgical strikes across the Line of Actual Control. A large number of soldiers were killed on Monday night without firing a round which means the deaths of the soldiers are far more brutal than they would have used guns and rifles.

Tensions had been running high in the Ladakh area for the past few weeks with a large number of soldiers and military equipment deployed along the Line of Actual Control by both India and China. Both India and China have never disputed the LAC in Galwan Valley The Chinese have involved in the Indian Side. Meetings and Negotiations had been conducted on June 6th between both country's military commanders for a mutually agreed disengagement process.

A Buffer Zone had been created to avoid any faceoffs between both armies. The two armies were to move back by a kilometer each in the LAC area. When the Colonel B Santosh babu was monitoring the process noticed that there is a Chinese camp still existing in the area and he went to get it removed. Then soon after blows were exchanged resulted in deaths and injuries. According to intelligence reports, 35 Chinese soldiers including an officer have died.

After the Army Major Generals meeting the situation was brought under control and Indian side was able to collect the bodies
