Supremecourt banned Registration of New diesel vehicles and SVUs in Delhi till March 31
In order to clean the city tackling the toxic smog The Supreme Court today banned the registration of Diesel cars and SUVs above 2000cc in Delhi till March 31 2016 will not affect the common man. It also barred the commercial vehicles registered before 2005 in Delhi and also from outside Delhi from entering Delhi
The Court asks the traffic police to look in to alternate routes for trucks to enter in to national capital. Green tax imposed in on trucks is also doubled.The court also ordered the taxi drivers to switch to CNG by March 31 2016.

The court's decision came in response to several petitions regarding the alarming pollution levels in the country along with banning diesel vehicles.The court had strongly remarked that "Rich People can't go round in SUVs polluting the environment".
It also slammed car dealers arguing against National Green Tribunal order banning registration of diesel cars saying, "Peoples life is at stake and your interested in selling cars." Earlier the tribunal had directed that no new diesel vehicles will be registered in Delhi.The court said it was an interim step till the next date of hearing on Jan 6 2016.
The Delhi government also took the situation seriously and planned to run odd and even numbers cars alternatively in the city for a trial period from January 1 to January 15.Almost 23% of cars registered in Delhi are diesel . Diesel cars legally emit 7.5 times more particular matter more toxic nitrogen dioxide than that of Petrol and Gas versions.
