"India will experience 1-1.5 degree celsius increase in mean annual temperature" : Latest Study

As according to latest study India  requires more than $1 trillion from now to next fifteen years to adopt the adverse impacts of climate change.The Study report prepared by IIM Ahmedabad ,IIT Gandhinagar and Council of Energy,Environment and water(CEEW) identifies gaps in adaptation,capacity building and institutional needs of preliminary financial technology and knowledge.

Climate change adaptation is a key component of the Global climate talks in Paris in which more than 196 countries are negotiating a new pact to tackle climatic change and keep global temperature rise in check below 2 degree celsius by the end of this century.

The CEEW Study reveals that the government is spending around USD 91.8 billion in 2013-14 on developing capacity and adaptation in India which is expecting to reach USD 360 billion by 2030, along with loss and damage from extreme events were estimated  USD 5-6 billion per annum additionally ."



India as a whole will experience 1-1.5 degree celsius increase in mean annual temperature from 2016-2045 which have very profound implications for agriculture and crop production and these effects could be further extended in resulting flooding and significant damage to infrastructure" The Study said.

Environment Secreatary Ashok Lavasa also recognizes the importance of study and he said  that "The fruits of development shouldn't be lost just because of increasing adaptation in near future. We need to fill the adaptation gap of more than 1.25 billion people strategically by Supporting and enhancing the sustainable development.

India's Intended Nationally Determined Contribution(INDC) also submitted a report which reiterates the need for better climatic change adaptation by enhancing various investments in several development programmes in sectors like agriculture,health management, water resources,disaster management etc that are vulnerable to climatic change.
