Central government is planning to make India The Green Hydrogen Production global hub for the future
The Union Cabinet Chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday has approved The National Green Hydrogen Mission at an initial outlay of Rs 19,744 crore and an incentives worth Rs 17,000 crore will be allotted for electrolyser manufacturing for five years and green hydrogen manufacturing under Strategic Interventions for Green Hydrogen Transition (SIGHT) program. Rs 1,466 crores will be spent on upcoming pilot projects and Rs 388 crore for various other mission components.

This is one of the World's biggest greenhouse gas emitters which will help India in a big way. India is planning to achieve net-zero carbon emissions by 2070.The Natural Hydrogen Mission was started in 2021 Aug 15 with a view to reduce carbon emissions and also increases the use of renewable sources of energy. The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) will formulate specific guidelines for the successful implementation.
The main aim of government is to make India a global hub for the production of green Hydrogen and to create export opportunities for Hydrogen and its derivatives and reduces dependency on imported fossil fuels and feed stocks.
The mission will also be helpful in decarbonisation of mobility, energy and industrial sectors.This mission also focuses on improving local manufacturing capabilities which will provide lakhs of job opportunities in cutting edge technologies by 2030 The mission will also ease production, creation and utilization of green hydrogen.It will also target Domestic electrolyser manufacturing units and green hydrogen production activities
