New GST Slab rates on various goods and services will come into effect from Today

The new Goods and Services Tax (GST) rates which was revised during the councils 47th meet came into effect from July 18. The two day meet was held in Chandigarh last month.In the meeting headed by the Finance Minister Nirmala Sitaraman that packed foods like milk,curd,flour, paneer,atta,cereals, pulses, Non ICU hospital rooms more than Rs 5,000 per day  and unpacked items like rice and wheat when packed will be brought under 5% GST Slab rate.

GST SLAB RATES

The Solar heaters, Leather products and hotel rooms with tariff of up to  Rs 1000 or less per day, Maps and charts including atlases  will be brought under 12% GST Slab. Tetra Packs, Printing, Writing, and drawing ink, drawing instruments, LED lamps,Fees charged by banks for cheque issuing (loose or in book form), Services by RBI, SEBI and IRDA , Serices for work contracts for roads, bridges, railways, metero, effluent treatment plants and crematoriums will be brought under 18% GST Slab.

Renting of  Trucks, Goods Carriage where the cost of fuel is included which were under 18% will now attract 12% GST. Ostomy appliances, transport of goods and passengers by ropeways, Select Orthopedic Services which was under 12%  GST will now come under 5% GST.  Even Electric vehicles whether or not fitted with a battery pack will now attract only 5% GST.. The GST will be exempted asusual for unpacked,unlabelled and unbranded goods, Training or coaching in recreational activities, Transport of passengers by air to and from northern eastern states and Bagdora for economy class.
