Central government is planning to give Free Booster dose for Adults in government vaccination centers from July 15th.

All adults in the country will be able to get free booster doses of the Coronavirus vaccine at all government Vaccination centers starting from Friday July 15th. The special drive will be there for 75 days and it is held as a part of  Central governments 'Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav  program  celebrations to mark the 75th India's Independence Anniversary.

Covid-19 Free Booster Dosage for Adults

This program is intended to improve the Third-dose coverage of Coronavirus vaccination. So far less than 1 percent of the target population of 77 crore in the age group between 18-59 have been organized to take this precautionary booster dosage.

As according to reports 26% of the estimated 16 crore eligible population of aged 60 years and above , Front line warriors and  Health workers have received the booster dosage. A majority of Indian population took second dose over nine months ago. 

As per ICMR (Indian Council of Medical Research) studies the antibody levels will be there for around 6 months after the primary vaccination of both first and second doses.Taking the booster dose will increase the immunity in the body. 

The Union Health Ministry has reduced the gap between the second dose and booster dose of Coronavirus Vaccine from nine months to six months for all beneficiaries Which followed the recommendation from the National Technical Advisory Group on Immunization (NTAGI0.

In order to accelerate and encourage the booster dose pace of vaccination, Central government has also launched the two month program of second round of  'Har Ghar Dastak Campaign 2.0' across all the states in India on June 1 2022.

According to government data statistics more than 96 % of population has taken the first dose and 87 % of people has taken both the doses.On April 10th 2022 central government has provided the Vaccination doses to above 18 years.

India wide vaccination turned out on January 16 2021 with the Healthcare Workers got vaccinated in the first phase. Vaccination for Front line Warriors started on February 2nd 2021. On March 1st 2021 Covid19 Vaccination for  people over 60 years was started and for people aged 45 and above the Vaccination started  on April 1 2021.

The government then decided to provide vaccination for aged 18 years and above from May 1st 2021.Vaccination for people in the age group between 15-18 began on January 3 2021.and for children aged 12-14 got vaccinated from March 16 2021.
