India is planning to achieve Rs 1 Lakh Crore Marine Product Exports in 5 Years says Piyush Goyal

Union Food and Public distribution Minister Piyush Goyal said that India is planning to double Marine Product Exports to Rs 1 Lakh Crore in the next five years. Addressing the media persons after interacting with Fishers and Seafood exporters of the Marine Products Export Development Authority (MPEDA) he said that India is aiming to achieve this target by ensuring quality and variety, sustainable fishing and supporting fisheries ecosystem, promoting acquculture and coastal shipping methods.

Piyush Goyal has also said that the Free Trade Agreements have bee finalized with Australia and UAE. Negotiations are going on with UK and Canada countries.Final FTA discussions with EU will begin in Brussels on the 17th of this month. He said that the main aim is to provide new opportunities and market access to the country's exporters which will provide a better future for fishermen.

Piyush Goyal also had an interaction with Seafood Exporters Association of India (SEAI) and has discussed on several challenges,issues.and solutions the sector is facing. He also met fishermen from various states. He also assured intervetions from his ministry to miimize the hurdles on the Value added Raw materials import facility so that India will very soon transform as seafood processing hub in the near future.

He urged that the exporters to educate, assist and encourage fisherman to follow sustainable measures in fishing so that it will preserve the quality and fetch better results. India's mission is to help the exporters in expandig the trade. He also had a discussion with Stakeholders of the Rubber sector and assured the central government support for the further development of the sector. He also stressed the need for increase in production and productivity to bridge the gap between production and consumption of Rubber in the country.
