PM announces Immediate relief fund of Rs 1000 crores to Tamilnadu

Prime Minister Narendra Modi,who made an aerial survey of chennai today,announced an immediate relief fund of Rs1000 Crores which will be released immediately by Central government for relief and rehabilitation works.More than 400 people lost their lifes due to severe rains.

Earlier PM Modi met Tamilnadu Chief Minister J.Jayalalitha and gave her confidence that  the central government will stand by the people in their hour of need.Chennai and adjoining parts of the city has received sunlight and water level has started receding in some areas.However the Met department has announced that a low pressure area is developing in Bay of Bengal which is likely to give rain in next 36-48 hrs.

Tamilnadu CM has also done aerial survey on flood affecting areas in Chennai.Rescue relief is continuing rigorously by the army and the National Disaster Response Force have rescued more than 7000 people but many people are still marooned.Chennai transport and communication system has been cut from all national and state highways.Meanwhile city is facing shortage of food and essential items.

One Litre packet of Milk is being sold for Rs 100 and a bottle of Mineral water is being sold for Rs 150.Vegetables are also being sold for Rs 90 to 100 a kg.The Chennai International airport will remain closed till December6.
