Scientists determined New simple Fingerprint Technique in identifying whether you're male or female

Forensic Scientists determined a New simple method in identifying whether a fingerprint belongs to a man or a woman as according to reports published in journal analytical chemistry. This test is based on various levels of certain residual amino acids found in the fingerprints. They found the levels are twice as high in the sweat of women as in that of men.

Finger Print Technique

"Fingerprints have really been treated as pictures for more than a hundred years," said Jan Halamek, a forensic scientist at the State University of New York at Albany and one of the study's authors."The only major improvements in recent years have been due to software and databases that make it faster to match fingerprints."

Halamek and his team performed fingerprint test on different surfaces by testing various levels of residual amino acids and found it was possible to tell the fingerprints belongs to man or woman .They tested fingerprints on a door nob,a laminate desktop,a composite bench top and also on a computer screen."The study involved only a few fingerprints, however, and a larger sample is required to ensure the results are statistically significant", Dr Halamek said.
