Larry Page announces the end of Google Directory and closure of Google Labs

Larry Page Co founder and New CEO of Google started streamlining the company by putting the end of Google Directory and closure of Google labs.

Google Directory was the Google's version of Open Directory/DMOZ which facilitates users to access to a database of sites.In Early days to find the web information people used DMOZ and Yahoo directories as main tools and it helps to get information in no time .Google abandoned homepage for the directory.Since Google stopped promoting directories from a very long time the users were reduced . Even though Google Directory got late traffic the quality and availability plays an important role in motivating the visitors.

Google has also announced the end of Google Labs which is mainly meant for testing prototypes and innovations.Bill Coughran ,Google SVP for Research and Infrastructure says that “Google is about to make the extraordinary opportunities ahead with top focus”. Earlier Experimients will not be available in Google labs website at an early stage.

Google already closed its various services like Google Video,Google Catalogue and Google Note book due to lack of audience support.Google need to make use of human resources in an efficient and organized way to further developments in social Content management.
