ISRO Succesfully Launched New communications satellite PSLV.

Indian Space Research Organization have launched a most powerful new communication satellite Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle(PSLV) in Sriharikota.PSLV-C17 was blasted off at 4:48 PM successfully before hurling after GSAT-12 into space about 20 minutes later.

ISRO Chairman K.Radhakrishnan expressed his happiness at mission control centre stating that PSLV-C17/GSAT 12 mission is successful. The launch vehicle injected the satellite precisely in to the intended orbit.GSAT 12 will be used for education,Telephone and telemedicine services and provides support for disaster management and It weighs about 1410 kgs and costs 80 crores.

India will have 175 transponders with GSAT-12 and is aiming to reach the target of 500 by 2012 to meet the booming demand in Telecom .PSLV has established itself as a workhorserocket which costs around 90 crores.PSLV is considered to be complex and unique with 5 special orbit manoeuvres.PSLV has to ensure that the satellite is injected in to the correct orbit which will take a few days from now.Two more launches are expected later this year.
