Turkey Syria Massive Earthquake Death toll crosses 5000

A 5.6 Magnitude Earthquake hit the Central Turkey region n Tuesday, hours after three disastrous earthquakes hit Turkey and Syria on Monday. More than 5100 people lost their lives and Thousand more are injured and the search for survivors is on.

Many countries (almost 70)  across the World including India had offered help in search and rescue operations. They are sending relief teams and supplies to Turkey. The death toll is stewed to go up. The rescue operations are going on . Three devastating and severe earth quakes of 7.8, 7.6 and 6.0 hit's Turkey and Syria. Another 5.6 magnitude tremor struck on Tuesday and there after they have noticed many tremors and shocks as well.  

Turkey President Tayyip Erdogan has declared seven days of national mourning. He also declared the 10 provinces as a disaster zone and imposed state of emergency for next three months which as affected by the devastating earthquake Indian government has sent NDRF search and rescue teams to Turkey.Along with teams specially trained dog squads, Drilling Machines and equipment Medical Supplies has also sent. 

As according to Turkey's disaster management agency more than 24000 emergency personnel were working now. It is estimated that 6000 buildings confirmed to have collapsed  in Turkey alone. Attempts to reach survivors were hindered by severe climatic conditions as temperatures are very low. Thousands of people are sheltered in sports centers or fair halls shopping malls, stadiums mosques and community centers.

Election commission announced schedule for Assembly Polls in Tripura, Meghalaya and Nagaland

The Election Commission has announced schedule for three states Assembly elections on Wednesday.. Polling in Tripura on Feb 16, Meghalaya and Nagaland on Feb 27 and The  Counting of votes for these three states will take place on March 2.  The Poll Schedule  penciled keeping in mind in board examination and security forces movement.

Meanwhile the election commission announced By polls in one seat each in Arunachal Pradesh, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, two in Maharashtra, Lakshadweep Loksabha seat polling will take place on February 27. The term of these three Assemblies which have 60 members each will end in March. Assembly tenure for Tripura ends on March 12 , Meghalaya on March 15 and Nagaland on March 22

Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar said A total of 62.8 lakh voters in three states will cast their vote in Tripura, Meghalaya and Nagaland Assembly elections. Around 2.8 Lakh New voters added to the list  376 polling stations across three states will be managed by Women staff. 

 97,000 voters are more than 80 years of age and 2,600 voters are more than 100 years of age.The BJP is in power in Tripura in coalitions with The National Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) in Nagaland and with National People's Party ( NPP) in Meghalaya.

By setting up more institutes there is a great chance of increasing medical seats that facilitates more people to study medicine. The government has also made a remarkable progress in establishment of digital university.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi awaited the concept of digital university to utilize technology for assuring the reach to far-flung areas also. The Central government in his budget (2022-2023) has disclosed the setting up of the Digital University.  The Digital University will provide quality university education at their door steps with personalized learning and easy access to students across India.

The Finance Minister also prompted the youth to remember those who fought for the country and also armed forces who are standing hard to prevent outsiders to enter and to protect the nation. She has also stressed the importance of Corruption free leadership that keeps the spirit of hope and optimism that helps to achieve the goal of making India a developed country by 2047.

Central government is planning to make India The Green Hydrogen Production global hub for the future

The Union Cabinet Chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday has approved The National Green Hydrogen Mission at an initial outlay of Rs 19,744 crore and an incentives worth Rs 17,000 crore will be allotted for electrolyser manufacturing for five years and green hydrogen manufacturing under Strategic Interventions for Green Hydrogen Transition (SIGHT) program. Rs 1,466 crores will be spent on upcoming pilot projects and Rs 388 crore for various other mission components.

This is one of the World's biggest greenhouse gas emitters which will help India in a big way. India is planning to achieve net-zero carbon emissions by 2070.The Natural Hydrogen Mission was started in 2021 Aug 15 with a view to reduce carbon emissions and also increases the use of renewable sources of energy. The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) will formulate specific guidelines for the successful implementation. 

The main aim of government is to make India a global hub for the production of green Hydrogen and to create export opportunities for Hydrogen and its derivatives and reduces dependency on imported fossil fuels and feed stocks. 

The mission will also be helpful in decarbonisation of mobility, energy and industrial sectors.This mission also focuses on improving local manufacturing capabilities  which will provide lakhs of job opportunities in cutting edge technologies by 2030 The mission will also ease production, creation and utilization of green hydrogen.It will also target Domestic electrolyser manufacturing units and green hydrogen production activities

ECI has developed new Remote Electronic Voting Machines for migrants to cast vote Remotely from their place

The Election Commission of India (ECI) has developed a new prototype for a Multi- Constituency  Remote Electronic Voting Machine (REVM) that helps migrant voters with Remote voting facility..RVM's can handle multiple constituencies from a single Remote Polling Booth. The EVM's  which was developed by public undertaking can handle up to 72 Multiple Constituencies from a single remote polling booth.

The Election Commission of India has invited 8 national parties and 57 state political parties on January 16  demonstrate the smooth functioning of the Multi Constituency prototype remote EVM functioning. The main aim is to find the credible technological solution that is easily accessible and acceptable to all

The information has already shared with them on legal, operational, administrative and Technological challenges defining domestic migrants, Implementation of Time tested Model Code of Conduct, Ensuring secrecy of voting, Voters identification process for polling agents, Remote Voting process and methods and counting of votes.

The laws and rules that are required to implement remote voting is The Representation of People's Ac of 1950 and 1951 , The Conduct of Election rules 1961 and The Registration of Election Rules 1960.The ECM has also requested all political parties to express their views in Written format on various issues related to legislation, Administrative procedure changes and also on Voting methodology or Remote Voting Machine Technology by January 31.

The administrative challenges includes Remote Voters self declaration aspects make sure the confidentiality of voting at remote voting boots and make certain identification of voters to avoid enactment, The other areas include the appointment of polling personnel for remote polling stations and supervision.The technological challenges includes the remote voting methodology and the intimacy of voters with respect to the Multi Constituency Remote EVM and counting of votes.

The main idea is to implement Voter Portability using RVM technology as a pilot project in the upcoming Assembly Elections in nine states in 2023.If it is successful then it will be fully implemented in general elections 2024. 

This is a new initiative can lead to social transformation for increasing voters participation in electoral democracy. If implemented perfectly this is very much useful for the migrants so that they need not  travel to their home districts to caste their vote. This will increase the Voter turnout in the election. Voters will exercise their vote from a single machine.

Indian Air Force has successfully Conducted a trail run on Emergency landing Facility on Andhra Pradesh National Highway

Indian Air Force has successfully conducted a trail run onThurday for the 4.1 newly constructed Emerging landing Facility(ELF) on Andhra Pradesh National highway. The landing place was constructed near Picchikalagudipadu village of  Korishapadu Mandal, Bapatla  district in Andhra Pradesh state on National Highway-16

Indian Air Force fighter and transport aircraft carried out practice flying including circuit approach and overshoot on NH-16 of Andhra Pradesh on Dec 29. A Transport plane AN-32, Two Sukhoi fighter planes and Two-Tejas light fighters participated in the Trail.

As according to the report The runway is perfect for landing. There is still work pending for the runway which includes road safety and also prevention of entry for people and animals.Indian Air Force in coordination with the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) is resolving issues such as painting on the runway and to look after surface consistency.

A strong security with 200 police personnel was provided for the trail run. From 10.30 AM till Noon the vehicles coming on the National Highway was diverted. The aircraft flew at a height of 100 meters without touching the ground.

India is conducting Mock drills at hospitals for Covid-19 Operational Preparedness

India is conducting mock drills on Tuesday to check and assess the operational preparedness to deal with any possible outbreak and spike of fresh covid-19 cases. The Mock drill will focus mainly on availability of health facilities and human resources capacity in all parts of the country.

This Mock drill  will help in filling gaps in necessary areas like the availability of Isolation beds, oxygen cylinder supported beds Intensive Care Unit (ICU) beds and Ventilator Supported beds. This will also help in checking the availability of Advanced and Basic Life Support ( ALS/BLS) ambulances , Essential Testing equipment and necessary drugs that are required .

Many states in India have adopted their own set of measures in order to keep Covid-19 new variant away.The Delhi government has already allocated Rs 104 crores for hospitals to purchase general medicines required  as a part of preparations to deal Covid-19. 

The Karnataka government has also made the wearing the masks mandatory at movie theaters , Educational institutions and also at crowded gatherings. They have also made mandated two doses of covid-19 vaccination at bars, restaurants and pubs ahead of New Year Celebrations.. The Bars, Restaurants and Pubs should operate only up to the seating capacity only.

The Tamil Nadu government has asked the private hospitals and labs to send Covid-19 positive samples for Whole genomic sequencing (WGS) to monitor existing variants and to detect new variants.The West Bengal government is also following six point plan that focuses on Genomic Surveillance, Oxygen capacity, testing and emergency responses.

Pariiament passes Anti-Maritime Policy Bill on Monday.

The Lok Sabha has passed Anti-Maritime Piracy Bill by a voice vote on Monday to make special provisions for the confinement of Piracy on high note. The central government has also added imprisonment along with the provision of death penalty for the convicted.

The External affairs Minister S. Jai Shankar said Whoever commits the act of piracy should be punished severely with a fine,imprisonment or even sometimes death sentence too depending on the nature of the circumstances. Various amendments moved by the opposition party members were negated. 

This bill was brought in 2019. and has referred to parliamentary standard committee panel for scrutiny the central government has proposed official amendments in this winter session of the parliament. This bill will apply to all parts of the sea adjacent to and 200 nautical miles beyond the limits of the Exclusive Economic zone of India. Participating, aiding, supporting,organizing, attempting to commit, and directing others to participate in an act of piracy will  be punishable with up to 14 years of imprisonment as according to law.

Special courts will be established for the speedy recovery of these cases.  As according to Anti Maritime Policy bill Piracy means any illegal act of detention,,violence or depredation against aircraft, person, ship  or property. On keeping the observations of the Supreme Court The death penalty was also included in the bill which should happen in the rarest of rare cases. The government has also included the option of life prison as many nations do not apprehend accused to view of the provision of capital punishment.

Sanjay Mudnaney shared about his interaction with a 92 year young gentleman at Starbucks. He takes an auto rickshaw to get to Starbucks and back to his home.Though he is weak,walks with a stick he always comes by himself and orders a cup of coffee. He shared about his conversation below.

"Mr Keki a Parsi gentleman shared his life moments with enthusiasm from his 92 years of age.. The First and foremost principle in his life is to be honest. Reliance Industries will build India's First Multimodal Logistics Park

Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) has acquired India's first Multi-Modal Logistics Park (MMLP) which was awarded by the Ministry of Road Transport, and Highways. The proposed state of art freight of Multi Modal Infrastructure facility handling facility that provides access to various modes of transport. It will be developed in three phases with an estimated budget of Rs 783 crores.

MoRTH is a pioneer in building the state of the art multi modal infrastructure and has made significant progress under the NMP and take up the same MMLP Chennai at Mappedu which is located at 52 Km from Chennai Port, 80 Km from Ennore Port, 87 Km from Katupalli Port is being developed in 184.27 acres and it will be the main focal point of logistics in the southern region.

It is estimated that around 7.17 Million Metric Tonne (MMT) cargo in next 45 years.It was the first MMLP awarded to RIL in which the Prime Minister has laid foundation for the development of large scale infrastructure projects on May 26  2022.    

The development of these large kind of infrastructure projects in Public Private Partnership (PPP)  Mode for which both the Central and State governments will work together as SPV formed amongst National Highways Logistics Management Limited (NHLM). Three bids was received including Adani group and two bidders are technically qualified financial bid opening.  The Concession Agreement for MMLPs is on DBFOT (Design ,Build, Finance ,Operate and Transfer) Model.

The Project costs Rs 1,424 crore and it facilitate  cost effective, efficient and value added logistics services like Packing, Sorting, Cargo aggregation and dis-aggregation, distribution, inter modal transfer, repacking features.

Government is planning to launch QR code Track and Trace Mechanism to check the Medicines

The government is planning to launch a "Track and Trace" Mechanism for top selling medicines to prevent the use of forged and low-quality medicines. This  QR Code will also authenticate about the drug along with the name of the company and expiry date of the brand. With this decision it is now allow consumers to check whether the medicine you are using is safe or not and enter them on government website.

In the first phase 300 top selling drugs will Print or affix QR codes on their first product Primary level packaging labels like can,bottle,jar or tube saleable items. Pain relief Tablets, Antibiotics, cardiac, anti-allergic with an MRP of over Rs 100 per strip are expected to be in the first phase list.

This announcement was expected a decade ago as it was delayed due to lack of preparedness in Domestic pharmaceutical industry.Even for experts this track and trace mechanism has been postponed till April next year. This system will also increase the costs of the company by 3-4%.

Over the years we are seeing several instances of forged and low quality medicines/drugs  in the market. These fake drugs are seized by the state drug regulators in various parts of the world. About 10% of the drugs in the low and middle income countries are falsified.

In June the government asked pharma companies to affix barcodes or QR codes on their primary or secondary package information with authenticated software application that helps to store data or information about the medicine in a reliable way. Consumers  can check the genuineness of the medicine easily by scanning the unique ID QR code on a portal developed by ministry and later track on using the mobile or text message.

Various options are also being studied to set up a central database agency for a single barcode provider for the entire industry.and it takes sometime to implement it. The implementation will increase the costs by 3-4% and certain companies already started affixing QR Code voluntarily. This facility will allow manufacturers and consumers to report counterfeit pharma codes using various handheld devices.and Mobile applications.

DA and DR for Central government employees and pensioners hiked by 4%

The Union Cabinet on Wednesday has announced 4% hike in Dearness Allowance (DA) for central government employees and Dearness relief (DR) for pensioners as Festival Bonanza.. With this increase in DA employees now stands at 38% of the basic pay/pension as against 34% earlier.

The hike will be applicable with effect from July 1 2022. Earlier In March 2022, the centre has increased DA by 3 % from 31% to 34% effective from January 1 2022. The additional financial inferences after the increase of DA to employees are estimated at Rs 6,591.36 crores per annum and Rs 4,394.24 crore in the financial year 2022-23 ( 8 months from July 2022) to February 2023.

In case of Pensioners .the additional financial inferences after the increase of DR are estimated at Rs 6,261.20 Crore per annum, and Rs 4,174.12 crore in the financial year 2022-23. The combined impact of both Dearness allowance and Dearness relief would be Rs 12,852.56 crore per annum and Rs 8,568.36 crore in the current financial year.

This is the 4th hike in DA allowance since rate hike was stopped in 2020 due to Covid-19. The DA and DR rates were hiked from 17% to 28% in July 2021..The rates were hiked again in October 2021 from 28% to 31%.. In March 2022 The centre had increased DA rates by 3% from 31 % to 34% effective from January 1 2022. The centre had frigid three additional installments of DA and DR due to Pandemic which were due from January 1,2020 , July 1 2020, and January 1 2021.

Andhra Pradesh government is planning to make Plastic Free state by 2027

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy stated that Andhra Pradesh will ban the use of plastic flexi boards from today and he promises to make Andhra Pradesh as a plastic free state by 2027.On Friday The AP government has signed an MoU with the American Based NGO named " Parley for the Oceans" organization to clean up the sea shores of the state.

The Special Chief Secretary of Municipal Administration and Urban Development Y Srilakshmi was signed a MoU on behalf of the AP government and Cyrill Gustch CEO of Parley was signed on behalf of the 'Parley for the Oceans".

Speaking on this occasion Chief Minister said that Environment and Economy are two sides of the coin and the government is moving  ahead with compendious and maintainable environment to protect and flourish the environment. He said that Visakhapatnam has engaged the World's largest bleach cleaning program. Over 22,000 people participating at a stretch of 28 km starting from Gokul Beach to Bheemili Beach  and about 76 tons of plastic was collected from the seashore and recycles and manufactures many products.    

He also said that It is the responsibility of all the citizens to save the oceans.70% of world's oxygen comes from marine plants and the usage of more plastic has affected at least 267 species of marine species worldwide. In order to protect the environment The AP government has been taking the necessary steps and thus brought industrial policy that encourages companies to adopt green and clean measures.

Around 4,000 garbage collection vehicles has been arranged across the state that results an increase in garbage collection rate from 22 to 62 %. The main aim of the government is to curb the plastic menace all over the state. 

The government is also planning to set up the Parley Super hub to manufacture the goods with recycled plastics that attracts Rs 16,000 crore investments and generates employment for 20,000 people in next six years. The Chief Minister went around the stalls and inspected recycled goods like shoes, glasses and wallets. He had also worn  a pair of goggles which was made using synthetic plastic.

Free Education, World-class Healthcare and Employment are to be considered as Fundamental Rights says Delhi CM

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said that providing free education, world-class healthcare and employment  not freebies and it is the duty of a responsible government for providing all fundamental rights.Many countries that got independence after India have transcended our growth despite of all potential and hard-work of our Indians.

Keirjwal has stressed the importance of  eradicating "Pariwarwaad" (dynastic politics) and "Dostwaad" (to favor friends). He also condemned and attacked the BJP and Congress saying that both parties have exploited power by spending public money on friends and family members.

On occasion  of 75th Indian Independence day we all must pledge to make India number one country in the world. We need to pledge to develop such a system where excellent free education, world class healthcare and 100 percent employment become fundamental rights of the citizens.

It is the duty of the government to provide free education and public healthcare which is not a freebie but be the important fundamental right of the citizens of India.

Jagdeep Dhankar was second vice president from Rajasthan after Bhairon singh shekhawat

National Democratic Alliance (NDA) candidate and former West Bengal governor Jagdeep Dhankhar was elected as the 14th Vice President of India. He has defeated the opposition candidate Margret Alva .Dhankar has secured 72.8% (528) votes of total 725 valid votes while Margret Alva got 182 Votes.

Jagdeep Dhankhar's victory margin is the highest victory margin in the last six vice presidential polls.since 1997. KR Narayanan still leads the list for having the highest margin by securing 700 votes out of 701 votes cast in 1992. 

Earlier Mohammad Hamid Ansari of Congress has won the Vice Presidential Polls with 60.51% (762) votes in the year 2007. He remained Vice President of India from 2007 to 2017. Venkaiah Naidu of BJP has won with 67.89% votes in 2017 Vice President Elections.

Jagdeep Dhankar is 71 year old and he is the second vice president from Rajasthan after Bhairon singh shekhawat. Jagdeep Dhankar was born in a remote village of Rajasthan .After finishing his schooling at Sainik School Chandigarh , He did his graduation in Physics and later he pursued an LLB degree from the Rajasthan University. He became one of the leading lawyers in Rajasthan. He also headed the Rajasthan High court bar association. He did practice in both Rajasthan High Court and Supreme Court.

He entered into politics in 1989 and started his  journey in Sangh Parivar.He was elected to Lok Sabha from Jhunjhunj constituency in Rajasthan in 1989. He also worked as parliamentary affairs minister in the Janata dal government headed by Chandra Sekhar. Jagdeep joined in BJP in 2003 and he became more popular with the case against RSS leader Indresh Kumar. Later he became Governor of West Bengal in 2019.

GST collections sets up a second all time high revenue in July

Goods and Services Tax (GST) was set up a second largest revenue record collection of Rs 1, 48,995 crore in the month of July. This was 28 percent higher as compared to the same month last year. Of the total CGST was Rs 32,807 crore and SGST was Rs 79,518 crore which includes Rs 41,420 crore collection of imports and CESS of  Rs 10,920 crore which also includes Rs 955 crore collected on import of goods.

In June the total GST collection was 1.44 lakh crore. For five months in a row now the GST revenues  has been increasing steadily month by month and it was more then Rs 1.4 lakh crore.For the first time in the month of April GST revenue collections crossed Rs 1.5 lakh crore and recorded Rs 1.68 Lakh crore for that month.

The growth in GST revenue till july 2022 over the last year is 35% and displays a very high exuberance. This shows that the measures taken by the Council in earlier meetings has a great impact to ensure better compliance. With this huge impact on getting good GST revenues on consistent basis shows the positive signs of economic recovery.

The five year GST regime was completed in June. The central government has brought uniform taxation system with transparency and accountability with a simpler registration process.  GST was introduced w.e.f 1st july 2017 across the country and states were assured for compensation for loss of any revenue arising out of the GST implementation as according to the GST compensation to states act 2017 for a period of five years.

In order to provide compensation to states ,Cess is being levied on certain goods and the amount collected from cess is credited to Compensation Fund w.e.f from July 1 2017. In recent GST meeting     several states have asked for extension of compensation for few more years and the central government is yet to take the decision.

PM Narendra Modi to Launch India's first International Bullion Exchange operations in the GIFT

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch India's First International Bullion Exchange (IIBX) in the GIFT (Gujarat International Finance Tec-City) city,Gandhinagar on Friday. IIBX is the India's first International Bullion Exchange which was set up at GIFT City, Gandhinagar. It offers various diversified range of products and technology services portfolio at a competitive cost in which exchange claims is far better when compared to Indian exchanges and other global exchanges in Singapore,Hong Kong, London,Dubai and Newyork.

IIBX is promoted by five market institutional investors i.e CDSLMCX,NSDL, India INX and NSE. This exchange will facilitate efficient price discovery with assured sourcing and quality features apart from giving momentum to the gold financialization in India.

The main aim of this global gold exchange is to create a regional bullion hub which allows more jewelers to import this metal.It is expected that IIBX will attract dealers, foreign banks and refineries in a big way. As of today 64 big jewelers have come onboard and several more applications are under pipeline. There will be local duty exemption unless goods are moved out of city.

Initially Gold 1kg 995 purity and Gold 100gm 999 purity with a T+0 (100% profit margin)  settlement are expected to trade in the bullion form of bullion depository receipts.at IIBX. In IIBX major contracts are listed, traded and settled in US Dollars currency. 

IIBX is also providing vault service to the companies which means The Bullion traded and exchange are stored at any place. Vaults in IFSC are approved by International Finance Services Centers Authority (IFSCA). IFSCA is the regulator of IIBX. To become eligible members of the IIBX qualified jewelers, foreign bullion suppliers, public and private firms and Non resident individuals (NRIs) need to follow OECD guidelines

Indian President Droupadi Murmu speaks of the greatness of Indian culture and democracy on her maiden address to Nation

The 15th President of India Droupadi Murmu  in her maiden address speaks about the greatness of India and the mother of democracy in her humble beginning speech who hails from small santhal tribal village from Odisha .Addressing to nation she said that in 75 years of parliamentary democracy, India has taken forward the resolve of progress through valuable contribution and harmony. In her address the president focuses primarily on wide range of issues which includes the citizen duties and need for collective efforts.

Kerala Government is planning to organize 75th Independence day Celebrations in a grand way

As a part of 75th Independence day Celebrations The Government of Kerala has decided to hoist the National Flag in all houses,educational institutions  and government organizations. This decision was announced by Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan in a district collector's meeting on Saturday as a part of Union Government's 'TriColour at every home' initiative. 

INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATIONS

The Kerala government has decided to organize state wide celebrations. As a part of 75th Independence day.All Educational Institutions, Houses, Government, Semi Government institutions will hoist the national flag from August 13 to August 15. During this time flags need not be lowered during nights as necessary changes have been made in the Flag code.

All the district collectors in Kerala have been instructed to include the Kudumbashree Units along with Khadi and Handloom sectors to prepare the national flags. These national flags will be distributed to all the students.If there are houses without children the local self government institutions will make necessary arrangements to ensure all the houses, libraries and public places to hoist the flag   The libraries and clubs will organize various programs in connection with the Independence freedom struggle.

The School students will be taken to relevant places of the freedom struggle in Kerala on Independence day.Booklets containing complete information about the various historic places of freedom struggle are distributed so that children will know all incidents about the freedom struggle.
